Copromorphoidea

43. Copromorphidae – tropical fruitworm moths

Small ( 14–25 mm wingspan) cryptically colored moths with moderately broad, round- ed wings. Th ere are no readily distinguishable features, and no clear autapomorphies separate them from the Carposinidae. Larvae are borers or concealed feeders.

Approximately 40 species of Copromorphidae are known worldwide, primarily in the tropics. Five species are known from North America; one of these occurs AB. The North American fauna was treated by Heppner (1984, 1986).
