Lanceola loveni loveni Bovallius, 1885

Southwest Atlantic: 1089980, 8/578, [ 57°19’S 27°12’W], 1464–1867 m; 1089983, 8/592, [ 55°15’S 25°37’W], 2562 m; 1090227, [ 60°42’S 28°47’W], 666 m.

Remarks: This is the most common sub-species of L. loveni having been recorded from all the world’s oceans, except the Mediterranean Sea, mostly from tropical regions in deeper waters (> 500 m). Until now, it has not been recorded from the Southern Ocean, the previous most southerly record being from the south-west Pacific Ocean ( 41°47’S) (Zeidler 2009). Thus, the above are the first records for the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Atlantic Sector.
