Mimonecteola macronyx K.H. Barnard, 1932

Southwest Pacific: 1013496, 27/1966, [ 59.658°S 155.35°E], 1446–1786 m.

Remarks: The validity of this species was confirmed relatively recently by Zeidler (2009). It has been recorded mainly from the tropical regions of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. The previously most southerly record is from the south-west Pacific ( 25°47’S 172°24’E) (Zeidler 2009). Thus, the above is a new record for the Southern Ocean and the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Pacific Sector. Its occurrence there may be because of the incursion of warm water as it is at the extreme southern range of the sub-Antarctic Zone.
