Mimonectes loveni Bovallius, 1885

Southeast Pacific: ex. 1090383, 5/280, [ 67.325°S 74.875°W], 2577 m.

Remarks: A relatively common species, found in all the world’s oceans except the Mediterranean Sea. It is found most often in depths of 200–1000 m, and sometimes occurs near the surface ( Vinogradov 1982/96). Zeidler and De Broyer (2009) indicated that this species might occur in the Southern Ocean with the most southerly record being from the south-west Pacific ( 46°43’S 176°08’E). Thus, the above is a new record for the Antarctic Zone of the Southeast Pacific Sector.
