Scina stebbingi Chevreux, 1919

Southwest Atlantic: 1090470, 4/141, [ 59.975°S 65.092°W], 915 m.

Remarks: A relatively uncommon species, usually found in the warmer waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It has also been recorded from the Mediterranean Sea but not the Indian Ocean. It seems to prefer shallower waters (< 500 m) but has also been found in deeper waters ( 1000–1500 m). There are no previous records from the Southern Ocean, the most southerly record being from the South Atlantic ( 28°29’S) ( Wagler 1926). Thus, the above is a new record for the region.
