  • 1. Rafael

Description

A problematic situation characterized by the disconnection between the different networks related to the communication of Cuban scientific results poses us as the problem that:

There is no space, system or integral tool in the Cuban context that allows the registration, management, accessibility and evaluation of Cuban scientific publications; And that it also fosters spaces for collaboration and interrelation between institutions, researchers, teachers, editors, librarians and other professionals from Cuba and the rest of the world.

Tocororo Project is an answer to this problem, since it is proposed to develop a virtual space for the integral management of Cuban scientific production published in journals, which contributes to its continuous improvement, access and visibility and to the interrelations among all the actors that participate in those processes.

The objective of this paper is communicate the existence of the project, its objectives, expected results, and the current status of its implementation, including services utilized by the community. Results to date are also presented: the Catalog of Cuban Scientific Journals, a list of databases that include Cuban journals, a proposal of XML format to share basic information of Cuban journals, a OJS plugin for communication and inclusion of journals in the Catalog.

The impact of the publication of the Catalog on the university community reaffirms the need for the services proposed in the project, confirming the importance of its execution for the Cuban scientific community.
