All input data sets are described in the Metadata files.\n\nThe data were calculated within the ELYAS project, funded by BMWK, FKZ 03EI1053B. The considered technologies are (technology identifiers in parentheses):\n hydro run of river (hydro_run_of_river)\n\nThe data are generated using the hydro module of the Energy Data Analysis Tool EnDAT, developed at DLR (see Scholz 2012, http://dx.doi.org/10.18419/opus-2015)\nFor the installable capacity of the hydro technology existing power plants are used derived from the PyPSA powerplant matching (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3358985) combined with the Hydro RIVERS dataset to match the power plant position to the ressource map. Our analysis aims at analysing temporal profiles of run-of-river hydro power plants. In addition to selecting the plant type \"run-of-river\", we also assigned that type to the \"undefined\" power plants as a conservative assumption. The power plant data bases used and the spatial informations about the river network are the following:\n hydro power plant JRC (The Joint Research Centre Power Plant Database (JRC-PPDB), https://doi.org/10.2760/5281)\n hydro power plant GPD (Global Power Plant Database v1.3, https://datasets.wri.org/datasets/global-power-plant-database)\n hydro power plant GHR (GloHydroRes - a global dataset combining open-source hydropower plant and reservoir data v1.0, https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14526360)\n river network (HydroRIVERS v1.0: https://doi.org/10.1002/hyp.9740)\n\nFor more information on the input data sets, see the metadata descriptions in Open Energy Metadata format which are part of the data package.\n\nFor the hydro power technologies the EFAS (European Flood Awareness System https://doi.org/10.24381/cds.e3458969) dataset was used for the river discharge which has a spatial resolution of ~5km and a temporal resolution of 6h.\nThe timeseries of each considered renewable energy technology is calculated on a per power plant basis.
