Der dauerhafte verlässliche Zugriff auf digitale Ressourcen ist fundamental für Forschung, Innovation und das kulturelle Erbe. Ein robustes System persistenter Identifikatoren (PIDs) bildet hierfür die Grundlage und erfordert eine strategische Ausrichtung, die über die technische Implementierung hinausgeht.PIDs machen Forschungsobjekte und wissenschaftliche Ressourcen auffindbar, identifizierbar und nachvollziehbar und tragen damit zur Umsetzung der FAIR-Prinzipien bei. Gleichzeitig sind die dazugehörigen, beschreibenden Metadaten für eine digitale, vernetzte Wissenschafts- und Bibliothekslandschaft essenziell, da sie Informationen zur Ressource enthalten.Die Integration von PIDs ist in Deutschland unterschiedlich fortgeschritten. Während einige Einrichtungen ihre Forschungsergebnisse bereits vernetzen und Forschungsgraphen realisieren, arbeiten andere noch an der Implementierung einzelner PID-Systeme. Um den vollen Nutzen auszuschöpfen und die internationale Anschlussfähigkeit zu gewährleisten, sind die Interoperabilität der PID-Systeme und eine koordinierte Vorgehensweise unerlässlich.Im Rahmen des DFG-geförderten Projekts „PID Network Deutschland“ wurde eine PID-Roadmap für Deutschland entwickelt, deren zentrale Eckpunkte im Vortrag vorgestellt werden.Die PID-Roadmap ist ein Fahrplan zur Schaffung eines vernetzten, nachhaltigen PID-Ökosystems, das die deutsche Forschung langfristig stärkt. Im Fokus steht die strategische Befassung in einer kooperativ agierenden Informationsinfrastruktur, die lokalen PID-Anwendungen einen Rahmen bietet und die systemischen Vorteile einer konsequenten PID-Nutzung verdeutlicht. Basierend auf einer umfassenden Analyse aktueller PID-Praktiken adressiert die Roadmap kritische Lücken in den Bereichen Finanzierung, technische Interoperabilität, organisatorische Abläufe und Bewusstseinsbildung.
