Boxes indicate the interquartile range (IQR) with median values shown as horizontal lines; whiskers extend to 1.5 × IQR. Individual data points are overlaid and jittered (width = 0.2) along the x-axis to avoid overplotting. Statistically significant differences between species (p ≤ 0.05) are marked by asterisks. Y-axis values are log-transformed, size-corrected units. Boxplots are colour-coded according to genetically defined lineages (Figs 1, 2).
