Authors/Creators

Description

Usermaatre Setepenamun Osorkon II was the fifth pharaoh of the Twenty-second Dynasty of Ancient Egypt and the son of Takelot I and Queen Kapes. He ruled Egypt around 872 BC to 837 BC from Tanis, the capital of this Dynasty. This basalt throne is dedicated to the Pharaoh from the hieroglyphs on the sides of the seat (only visible on one side of this scan due to poor lighting) and the fragmentary seated figure. It was found in Byblos, at the Temple of the Goddess Baalat Gebal.
