"page": "
Renewable energy technologies (RET) and information and communication technologies (ICT) are playing a vital role in the transition to a digitalised and zero emission Europe. However, raw materials used to manufacture these technologies include those that the European Union classes as ‘critical’, meaning these materials are vital to the economy, but also that their supply is at risk because they are sourced from conflict zones or are largely controlled by one or just a few countries.
\n
Russia, for example, accounts for over 40% of the world’s palladium production. Changes in geopolitical situations, such as the war in Ukraine can severely damage the value chain of critical raw materials. The European Union wishes to increase its control over the supply of these and one way of doing this is to focus on those already contained in products being used in Europe.
\n
To address these challenges, the European Commission is preparing the general requirements for the establishment of digital product passports (DPP). These passports will share information from across the value chain, from raw materials through design and production to reuse and recycling.
\n
The Circular Economy Resource Information System (CE-RISE) project aims to create an information system and integrate digital product passports, that will share detailed information on electronic products.
\n
CE-RISE will develop the system to provide stakeholders, including consumers, with a better understanding of the green credentials of electronic products and how to preserve important raw materials through the reuse, repair and recycling of these items.
",

The EU Open Research Repository simplifies the process of complying with open science requirements, ensuring that research outputs from Horizon Europe, Euratom, and earlier Framework Programmes are freely accessible, thereby accelerating scientific discovery and innovation.
\n
EU Open Research Repository vs Open Research Europe (ORE)
\n
The EU Open Research Repository serves as a complementary platform to the Open Research Europe (ORE) publishing platform. Open Research Europe focuses on providing a publishing venue for peer-reviewed articles, ensuring that research meets rigorous academic standards. The EU Open Research Repository provides a space for all the other research outputs including data sets, software, posters, and presentations that are out of scope for ORE. This holistic approach enables researchers to not only publish their findings but also share the underlying data and materials that support their work, fostering transparency and reproducibility in the scientific process.
\n
Funding
\n
The EU Open Research Repository is funded by the European Union under grant agreement no. 101256740 (HORIZON-ZEN Plus). The community is managed by CERN on behalf of the European Commission.
\n
Mission
\n
The mission of the repository is to support the implementation of the EU's open science policy, providing a trusted and comprehensive space for researchers to share their research outputs such as data, software, reports, presentations, posters and more.
