This intergenerational oral-history interview with Carlos Javier Álvarez and Flávia Álvarez Hernández documents changing relationships between inhabitants of A Guarda and Monte Santa Trega across the late twentieth and early early twenty-first centuries. Carlos recalls childhood experiences of exploring the mountain as an adventure landscape, early archaeological visibility before later excavations, memories of the Voto procession as a formerly male-only nocturnal ritual, and the historical development of the Sociedade ProMonte and Festas do Monte as a civic celebration. Flávia contributes perspectives on participation in contemporary bandas marineras, youth engagement with the Festas do Monte, heritage protection around the castro, and the role of the Monte as a symbolic point of return for emigrants and seasonal residents. The interview also addresses cross-border exchange with Caminha, migration patterns, and transformations in the fishing economy and social structure of A Guarda.
