    "description": "<p><span>In recent years, the reduction of specular reflectivity due to soiling has been mainly assessed using hand-held reflectometers. This activity reveals itself time consuming, particularly for large solar fields. Besides, spatial reflectivity is extremely localized when reflectometers are used, typically on the order of magnitude of square centimetre. This means that multiple measurements for large size heliostats might be necessary for a reasonable assessment. This work presents the development and proof of concept of a new technique, whose purpose is to reduce the assessment time, automatizing the process and reducing operation and maintenance costs. This technique makes use of a camera and two heliostats. One used as the clean reference and the other naturally soiled. Comparison of the light intensity derived from photographs recorded on both heliostats allow to extract information on soiling effect. This information is then compared with the soiling ratio calculated from the reflectance measurements performed with a Condor reflectometer on the same heliostats. The models developed in this work show a r2 above 0.9 with a soiling ratio absolute error below 1&ndash;2 %.</span></p>",
