The Master Species List (MSL) provides access to the official virus taxonomy approved by the ICTV. A new MSL will be uploaded whenever a new, revised taxonomy is ratified by the ICTV membership. These Master Species Lists (MSL) provide the complete ICTV taxonomy as a downloadable spreadsheet.

The new,  2025 ICTV taxonomy is now available through our taxonomy browser at https://ictv.global/taxonomy. This new version of Master Species List #41 is also available for download as an Excel Spreadsheet.

MSL41 contains taxonomic changes approved by the ICTV Executive Committee in August, 2025 and ratified by the ICTV Membership in February 2026.
