INSPIRE Sustainable Change for Inclusive Gender Equality: Challenges and opportunities
Description
Sustainable change for inclusive gender equality (IGE) in research institutions is a complex goal. IGE is defined as an aspirational ideal that addresses the intersections of gender with other social categories—such as ethnicity, race, class, disability, and sexual orientation—in the pursuit of organizations that ensure equal visibility, power, and participation for all. If you are a policymaker or practitioner working on gender equality and moving towards an intersectional approach, this document will help you identify major challenges and provide preliminary insights from research and experts on sustaining change. Many of the issues discussed in this working paper are widely recognized by institutions across various contexts, highlighting that the problems and challenges are shared. This serves as a reminder that you are not alone in the struggle and that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. However, by working together and sharing knowledge, the INSPIRE project aims to contribute meaningfully to overcoming these challenges. This paper draws on insights from a scoping literature review on change for IGE and the first knowledge exchange event of the KSH 1: Sustaining and Deepening Change.
