Abstract

African philosophy encompasses a rich tapestry of ethical thought that has evolved over millennia in diverse cultures across Africa. Sierra Leone, as a microcosm of African societies, exemplifies these philosophical foundations. This study aims to explore how these traditional and contemporary African ethical perspectives influence global ethical discourse. The analysis will be grounded in a comprehensive review of existing literature on African philosophy, with particular attention to ethical theories from Sierra Leone. Qualitative thematic analysis will be employed to identify recurring themes and patterns across different linguistic and cultural contexts. This study underscores the importance of integrating African philosophical perspectives into modern academic discourse, particularly in fields like ethics and anthropology. It suggests that a more inclusive approach to understanding human values can enrich our collective ethical framework. Future research should further explore how these traditional African ethical principles might be applied to contemporary global challenges. Policy makers could also benefit from incorporating insights from Sierra Leonean philosophy into their decision-making processes.
