Description

International mobility has long been celebrated as a transformative force in higher education - one that enables students to expand their academic horizons, strengthen
intercultural understanding, and develop skills that transcend borders. Yet, while the benefits of mobility are widely acknowledged, the lived experience of international
students often reveals a more complex picture, shaped by both opportunities and persistent barriers. This report presents insights from from international students and university staff, based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis of student data, contextual mapping of welcome and integration practices at higher education institutions, and most importantly, key findings from a series of Student Dialogues with international students, local students and university staff, implemented across 7 partner universities. Thus, the report captures a multidimensional picture of the integration process. It is intended both as an analytical resource, but also as a practical tool to support more inclusive and participatory strategies in practice, offering a set of evidence-driven student-centred recommendations.
