INSTITUTIONAL DRIVERS OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP READINESS IN THAI TVET

Abstract: Thailand’s transition to a value-based, digital economy under the Thailand 4.0 initiative underscores the importance of equipping Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates with entrepreneurial competencies. This study examines the perceived entrepreneurship readiness of Thai TVET institutions based on the responses from 29 professionals across the country. Using a structured survey, we assessed curriculum integration, institutional practices, skill gaps, policies, challenges, and strategies supporting entrepreneurship and technopreneurship. The results reveal strengths in institutional practices and policy awareness but highlight gaps in curriculum coverage and faculty capacity. A Thailand Entrepreneurship Readiness Index was computed using a five-dimensional framework derived from Human Capital Theory and the UNESCO-UNEVOC Institutional Capacity Framework. Findings indicate a moderate to high readiness level, suggesting potential for growth if targeted interventions are implemented. Recommendations focus on curriculum enhancement, faculty development, industry partnerships, and supportive policy measures.
