Este informe de alcance (scoping report) está diseñado para lograr dos objetivos. En primer lugar, busca establecer las mismas definiciones y una terminología común, que se utilizarán de manera coherente dentro del proyecto ALMASI, proporcionando un análisis cohesionado y definiendo de manera clara qué aspectos se deben incluir y cuáles quedarán fuera del alcance del proyecto. En un proyecto que abarca el panorama editorial de tres regiones internacionales diferentes (África, Europa y América Latina), resulta esencial construir una base de entendimiento común antes de avanzar. En segundo lugar, este informe ofrece una integración que aprovecha la literatura existente y fuentes de datos bibliométricos para dar una visión general del conocimiento actual sobre las actividades de edición en Acceso Abierto Diamante (Diamond OA) en estas tres regiones.
\nLa perspectiva analítica adoptada en este informe se articula en torno a cinco conceptos fundamentales: mecanismos de financiación; estructuras organizativas y modelos de gobernanza; plataformas, soluciones y servicios; y tipos de resultados, centrándose en revistas, artículos, libros y preprints. El informe recopila y sintetiza el conocimiento disponible sobre estos conceptos centrales en cada una de las tres regiones, aportando algunas ideas fundamentales sobre las similitudes y diferencias en la forma en que se gestionan, para así dar soporte a la edición en Acceso Abierto Diamante. Este mapeo inicial identificó matices en la disponibilidad y profundidad del conocimiento documentado en las tres regiones. La literatura y los análisis sistemáticos para Europa son más exhaustivos, debido en gran medida a proyectos recientes impulsados por políticas (como DIAMAS) que proporcionaron revisiones sistemáticas detalladas sobre la publicación institucional en Acceso Abierto Diamante, abarcando gobernanza, financiación y soluciones técnicas. Por otro lado, la documentación sobre comunicación académica en África es más localizada y está menos sistematizada de manera formal; se basa principalmente en casos de estudio y se encuentra dispersa en una gran variedad de fuentes. En cuanto a América Latina, aunque el conocimiento documentado refleja un ecosistema de Acceso Abierto Diamante de larga trayectoria —respaldado por infraestructuras no comerciales lideradas por universidades (por ejemplo, SciELO, Redalyc, Latindex, AmeliCA)—, la evidencia disponible sigue centrada en el desarrollo institucional y la sostenibilidad operativa, más que en análisis sistemáticos. Los resultados obtenidos muestran un panorama parcial del ecosistema, donde la información disponible presenta distintos enfoques y niveles de consolidación según la región. Esta divergencia pone de manifiesto la importancia de profundizar en el análisis y documentación en estudios futuros.
\nLa ausencia de un registro exhaustivo existente de revistas activas en Acceso Abierto Diamante en las regiones analizadas hizo necesario consolidar diversos conjuntos de datos abiertos, tanto internacionales como nacionales, que permitieran obtener la representación más completa posible de la actividad editorial de este modelo en las tres regiones. Como era de esperar, los tres espacios geográficos analizados presentan características divergentes y parecen haber organizado la edición en Acceso Abierto Diamante de formas distintas. En total, se identificaron 20.355 revistas en Acceso Abierto Diamante en las tres regiones: 13.202 con sede en Europa, 5.821 en América Latina y 1.351 en África.
\nEntre los servicios internacionales de indexación bibliométrica utilizados, OpenAlex aportó la cobertura más amplia y singular de este tipo de revistas en las tres regiones. No obstante, el uso de cualquiera de los servicios internacionales de indexación actuales presenta sesgos de representatividad y desequilibrios en cuanto a la inclusión exhaustiva de contenidos procedentes de las tres regiones. Un rasgo común de las revistas en Acceso Abierto Diamante en las regiones analizadas es que las instituciones de investigación son el tipo de organización más frecuente en el papel de casa editorial, lo que pone de relieve el rol que desempeñan las universidades a nivel mundial, especialmente en este modelo de publicación.
\nComo uno de los primeros entregables del proyecto ALMASI, este informe sienta las bases para un trabajo posterior bien fundamentado, que tenga en cuenta los distintos perfiles de las tres regiones, permitiendo así la realización de investigaciones e intervenciones adaptadas a medida que el proyecto avance.

\nThe EU Open Research Repository accepts all digital research objects which is a research output stemming from one of EU’s research and innovation funding programmes. The funding programmes currently include:

\nIn line with the principle as open as possible, as closed as necessary both public and restricted content is accepted. See note on how Zenodo handles restricted content.
\nEU programme beneficiaries are eligible to submit content to the community. The community supports three types of content submissions:
\nSubmission via an EU Project Community (through user interface or programmatic APIs).
\nSubmission directly to the EU Open Research Repository.
\nAutomated harvesting from existing Zenodo content.
\nA representative of an EU project may request an EU Project Community and invite other project participants as members of the community. The project community is linked to one or more European Commission grants. All records in the project community are automatically integrated into the EU Open Research Repository immediately upon acceptance into the project community.
\nAny user may submit a record directly to the EU Open Research Repository. The submission will be moderated by Zenodo staff for compliance with the minimal required metadata requirements and its correctness.
\nRecords found among Zenodo’s existing content will on a regular basis automatically be integrated if they are found to comply with the requirements. The submissions through this method are integrated into the EU Open Research Repository with delay in a fully automated way.
\nRecords in the EU Open Research Repository are required to comply with the following minimal metadata requirements:
\nVisibility: Both public and restricted (with or without embargo and/or access request)
\nResource types: All resource types.
\nLicenses: Public and embargoed records MUST specify a license. The chosen license SHOULD be compliant with the Horizon Europe open science requirements (see Open Science in Horizon Europe)
\nFunding information: Records MUST specify at least one grant from the European Commission.
\nCreators: Creators SHOULD be identified with a persistent identifier (e.g. ORCID, GND, …), and affiliations SHOULD be identified with a persistent identifier (e.g. ROR, ISNI, …)
\nSubjects: Records SHOULD specify one or more fields of science from the European Science Vocabulary.
\nThese metadata requirements comes from the related open science requirements in Horizon Europe which are detailed in each project's grant agreement.
\nAll submissions undergo automated curation checks for compliance with the policy. Submissions through project communities are in addition reviewed by the project community. Submission directly to the EU Open Research Repository is in addiotn reviewed by Zenodo staff.
\nCommunity curators may at any point edit metadata of the records in the community without notice through human or automated processing. The curators may at their sole discretion remove records from the community that are deemed not to comply with the content and curation policy or which are deemed of insufficient quality.
