Governance van het Nederlandse drinkwater
Authors/Creators
Description
The Dutch drinking water sector is facing major challenges due to climate change, pollution, aging infrastructure, and fragmented governance. The current governance-model -comprised of four main actors: the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW), the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT), provincial governments, and drinking water companies- proves insufficiently effective in practice, primarily due to a lack of leadership, slow decision-making, and unclear role definitions. This study analyzes the core problems, evaluates the current governance structure, and provides recommendations to strengthen it, with the aim of ensuring the long-term continuity of drinking water supply.
