    "description": "<h1><span lang=\"EN-US\">Abstract</span></h1>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Characterized by the dynamic interplay between English and Filipino, the Philippine linguistic landscape has given rise to <em>\"Conyo,\"</em> a linguistic phenomenon characterized by the code-mixing of English and Filipino, also called <em>\"Taglish\"</em>. This article investigated whether <em>Conyo</em> serves as a communicative advantage (boon) or a hindrance (bane) for Senior High School learners at Christ the King College de Maranding. Employing a mix of quantitative descriptive-correlational research design and qualitative analysis, the study utilized surveys to assess the language practices of 30 randomly selected respondents and analyzed the data against their socio-demographic profiles using statistical tests. The main findings revealed that students possess a high level of sociolinguistic competence, using <em>Conyo</em> as a pragmatic tool for clearer self-expression without significant influence from their gender, economic status, or academic background. Ultimately, the study concludes that <em>Conyo</em> acts as a boon by lowering linguistic anxiety and fostering social solidarity, recommending its integration into pedagogical strategies.</span></p>",
