Description
Implementation proposal for language-aware assessments has been produced by the Working Group (WG) on Multilingualism and language biases in research assessment of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA).
The proposal has been made available for community consultation by CoARA community. The working group has revised the proposal based on feedback from CoARA member organisations, CoARA national chapters and CoARA working groups, and from interested individuals. Final version of the proposal has been submitted for review and endorsement of the CoARA Steering-Board.
This document presents four proposals for the possible implementation of language-aware assessments, including concrete actions and steps to guide the implementation, and supporting annexes:
- Proposal 1: Make multilingualism a value in research assessment
- Proposal 2: Assess and improve language diversity, competences and practices
- Proposal 3: Create expectations and criteria recognizing multilingual work
- Proposal 4: Integrate multilingualism into assessment processes
- Annexes to support implementation of language-aware assessment
Some of the Annexes are currently available, while others will be made available when finalized (check the status of Annexes below):
