BIOPLASTICS FOR PACKAGING: AN OVERVIEW OF NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC
Description
This article aimed to analyze and discuss Brazil’s role in the
international scientific production on bioplastics applied to packaging between 2020
and 2025, as well as to identify which raw materials have been most frequently
investigated in the studies. The PICO strategy was used to formulate the research
question, and the CAPES Journals platform served as the database. A total of 15
articles were retrieved, of which 12 were fully analyzed. The findings indicate that
national scientific production has been consistent, with an average of 2 articles per
year, and 2023 was the year with the highest participation of authors affiliated with
Brazilian institutions. Nonetheless, there remains room for further research exploring
alternative raw materials that may be employed in the production of bioproducts,
thereby strengthening the national bioeconomy and contributing to the mitigation of
the impacts of plastic pollution.
