The war represented in the media space in the context of the crisis of the traditional press. The case of the Palestinian Israeli and Russian Ukrainian conflicts in a comparative key

  • 1. Lviv Polytechnic National University. Lviv, Ukraine

Description

Media coverage of war is characterized by narratives that serve specific interests, ideologies, and powers, making the search for objective and impartial information almost illusory. In this context, the objective of the research is to analyze how the Palestinian Israeli and Russian Ukrainian conflicts are represented in the contemporary media space, examining the mechanisms of discursive and narrative construction of war in a context of crisis in the traditional press and transformation of the information ecosystem. To achieve this objective, a hybrid methodology was constructed, based on the analysis of political discourse and critical geopolitics. The results obtained allow us to conclude that, in the digital age, the dispute between nations and actors in conflict is no longer played out solely in the military arena, but above all in the field of public perceptions. Victory depends on who manages to impose a credible narrative on global audiences amid an abundance of fragmented and contradictory information. Thus, media warfare ceases to be a simple reflection and becomes an active, complementary, and indispensable intervention in military warfare, shaping the interpretation and meaning of events in general.
