Description

The presentation details UNIBE's participation as one of nine pilot projects in GraspOS and their work on an evaluation mechanism to promote Open Science practices.

  • Pilot Project Overview: UNIBE is one of nine GraspOS pilot projects. The pilot developed an evaluation mechanism to promote Open Science practices, building upon the Authors–Projects–Publications (APP) tool. This mechanism upgrades tracking of openness at the researcher, department, project, and output levels, and is integrated with OpenAIRE Graph, BIP!Ranker, and OpenCitations.
  • APP Platform Features: The APP platform is a central tool for managing and evaluating research activities. It features normalization and searching of author names and project funding data. Additionally, it organizes records into thematic groups and collections, displays citation counts from various resources, and includes insights from alternative metrics.
  • Recognition & Reward System: A badge-based system was developed to highlight green open access practices and recognize participation in Open Science training. Department-level engagement is also encouraged. Four badge models are integrated into the APP interface to promote individual and institutional contributions.
  • Key Achievements: The pilot developed a reward system prototype and integrated badge models. Key engagement involved 50+ researchers and 6 departments, and the team delivered workshops and a Community of Practice session. The institutional policy was aligned with national Open Science frameworks.
  • GraspOS Support & Collaboration: GraspOS provided the UNIBE pilot with access to resources, technical expertise, and an EU-wide network. It also enhanced the pilot's visibility and cross-institutional cooperation. The evaluation framework supports inclusive, transparent, and sustainable Open Science monitoring.

The UNIBE team members for this pilot project were Ana Bošković, Slađana Savić Jovanović, and Vladimir Otašević.
