D1.1 Comprehensive overview of the project

Authors/Creators

Description

The present deliverable provides a comprehensive overview of the Steel4Fatigue project. The document describes in detail the state of the art of the thick 1st generation Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS) and spring steels. A literature review on the influence of microstructural constituents on the mechanical performance of these steels is presented. The review covers a broad range of critical in-use properties such as formability, fatigue, notch sensitivity and fracture toughness. The report identifies the knowledge gaps and main challenges found in the implementation of these new thick AHSS grades and outlines the novel experimental and modelling approaches of Steel4Fatigue to overcome them. Finally, the expected outcomes of the project and how are they aligned with the proposed work plan are described.
