The Aesthetic Significance of the Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri, Scopoli, 1769) in Bangladesh
Description
This study documents the behavioral characteristics, habitat alterations, distribution status, diet, flight patterns, protective measures, and other ecological aspects of the Rose-ringed Parakeet (Psittacula krameri). Bangladesh hosts approximately 301 resident bird species, 176 regularly visiting migratory species, and 143 rare vagrants, while 30 species have become nationally extinct. The Rose-ringed Parakeet is one of the most familiar and commonly domesticated bird species in the country; however, extensive habitat destruction has led to a noticeable decline in its wild population. This study highlights the importance of maintaining population balance and promoting conservation strategies for this species.
