Description

The PyGS software (https://github.com/PyGSDR/PyGS) serves as an open-source comprehensive package for the investigation of magnetic flux ropes in space plasmas. As an automated tool based on the extended Grad-Shafranov equation, this package utilizes in situ spacecraft measurements (applicable to various spacecraft such as PSP, Wind, and MMS) for the detection of magnetic flux ropes. The in-package tools also derive the associated flux rope parameters (e.g., poloidal and toroidal magnetic flux, relative magnetic and cross helicities, average twist, etc.) in addition to reconstructing the 2D magnetic field configuration from the 1D time-series data. As such, this open-source package is useful for both case studies and statistical analysis of magnetic structures, and can be efficiently used to support other analyses.
