GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION IN LANGUAGE TEACHING
Description
Global Citizenship Education (GCE) has become a crucial framework in 21st-century pedagogy, emphasizing learners’ awareness of global issues, intercultural understanding, and responsibility as members of a connected world. In the context of language education, GCE encourages students to go beyond linguistic competence by fostering empathy, critical thinking, and global-mindedness. This paper examines the integration of GCE principles into English language teaching, focusing on classroom strategies, teacher roles, and challenges in the Uzbek educational context. The findings suggest that embedding global citizenship themes into language lessons enhances learners’ motivation, cultural sensitivity, and communicativecompetence.
