# Survey 2022: Repository data of Eawag - Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (2018-2021)

## Description:
Lib4RI analyzed publication data in the institutional repository of the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (DORA Eawag, https://www.dora.lib4ri.ch/eawag/) covering the years 2018 to 2021. This analysis aims to produce absolute figures on the proportion of open and closed scientific publications authored by researchers affiliated with the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology as part of the annual survey 2022 conducted by the Swiss Open Access Monitor (Repository Monitor, https://oamonitor.ch/charts-data/repository-monitor/).
The analysis covered four resource types: journal articles, books, book chapters, and conference papers. Only basic Open Access status is considered, based on the availability of full text (open | closed) in DORA Eawag. Publications under embargo at the time of data collection are classified as closed.

The dataset consists of four csv files (for each publication year a seperate file).

## Methods:
Publication records of the following publication types were gathered to be aggregated for the survey
Records of the type
o	Journal Article
for the survey category Journal Article

o	Book
o	Edited Book
for the survey category Book

o	Book Chapter
for the survey category Book Part

o	Proceedings Paper
for the survey category Conference Paper. 

An advanced search (see below) on the public interface of DORA Eawag (https://www.dora.lib4ri.ch/eawag/) was performed on 17 May 2022 to select all appropriate publications. The metadata of those selected records were exported as an Excel file and processed, which produced the four raw data files and generated the final absolute figures.
Metadata fields (e.g. resource type, OA type) were standardized using search-and-replace or manual edits.
Retracted publications and publications of authors not affiliated with Eawag were removed.
Journal articles not reporting original research findings (e.g. letters to the editor, editorials, comments, books reviews) were idenfified based on the tag "other_journal_contribution" in the metadata field "Additional information" and removed.
