Spatial Analysis of Crime Patterns in Nigeria (2021-2023): A GIS-Based Approach

Description

This research conducts a spatial inventory of crime in Nigeria. The period of this analysis is from 2021 to 2023, and it studies the spatial pattern and trend of crimes in Nigeria. The crime data was sourced from the official website of Nigeria’s Ministry of police Affairs; the study employs spatial analysis techniques to examine the distribution and concentration of crime across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The study also employed a mixed- methods of approach, a Nigeria digital map was made, the data was downloaded from the official website of the Nigeria’s ministry of police affair’s, all crime data from the year 2021 – 2023 was imputed into the attribute database of the digital map of Nigeria, present maps showing geographical distribution of crime incidents and also charts and graphs to present statistical data to enable relevant personnel to make meanings out of the data.
