Description

This thesis, titled "Implementation of a Pipeline for Collecting, Ingesting and Transforming Data into Standard Formats for the LAME FIB-SEM", presents the design and development of a FAIR-by-design data management platform tailored for the Laboratory of Electron Microscopy (LAME) at Area Science Park in Trieste, Italy. Focused on addressing the challenges of handling complex datasets generated by advanced electron microscopy instruments—particularly the Tescan Amber X FIB-SEM—the project introduces a Django-based web application that facilitates structured data and metadata submission, validation, and standardized NeXus file generation. The system integrates with institutional infrastructure such as ORFEO, MinIO, and NOMAD Oasis to ensure secure storage, semantic interoperability, and FAIR-compliant publication. Through ontology-aligned metadata modeling, automated workflows, and repository integration, the platform enhances data transparency, reusability, and long-term preservation, contributing to open science initiatives and cross-institutional data sharing under the NFFA-DI and PRP@CERIC frameworks.
