The New Nothogenera of the Aeonium Clade (Crassulaceae)

This monograph introduces three new nothogenera within the Aeonium clade (Crassulaceae):

• ×Monanthonium Scarlet nothogen. nov. (Monanthes × Aeonium)
• ×Monanthryson Scarlet nothogen. nov. (Monanthes × Aichryson)
• ×Aechrysanthes Scarlet nothogen. nov. (Aeonium × Aichryson × Monanthes)

Additionally, it provides documentation of the first confirmed specimens of the previously theoretical nothogenus × Aeonichryson P.V.Heath (Aeonium × Aichryson).

The work examines reproductive barriers and developmental abnormalities in the intergeneric hybrids, theorizes on their probability of natural occurence, provides field-identification criteria to aid in potential wild observations, and discusses implications for unresolved taxonomy (e.g., Aeonium/Greenovia classifications).

All new nothotaxa are compliant with the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICNafp).
