Funded under the Horizon Europe call “Demonstrating how regions can operate within safe ecological and regional nitrogen and phosphorus boundaries” (HORIZON_HORIZON-CL6-2024-ZEROPOLLUTION-01-1), the GREENHOOD, AQUAPHOENIX, and NPOWER projects address one of Europe’s most critical environmental challenges: excess nitrogen and phosphorus pollution.
These Innovation Actions aim to demonstrate how regional and river basin systems can implement safe and sustainable nutrient budgets, reduce emissions across key sectors, and support circular practices for nutrient recovery and reuse. The projects contribute to the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030 and align with the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), offering scalable, cross-sectoral solutions for integrated nutrient management.
