Assessing and treating prolonged grief in daily life

This presentation was delivered at an expert meeting hosted by Professors Andreas Maercker and Clare Killikelly at the University of Zurich from April 15 to 16, 2025. Assistant Professor Lonneke Lenferink and Postdoctoral Fellow Justina Pociūnaitė-Ott from the University of Twente presented ongoing work from the Grief Lab, which is led by Lenferink. Their presentation highlighted the importance of studying grief in daily life using intensive longitudinal methods. The presentation demonstrated how these approaches, which are commonly used in other fields, can enrich grief research. The presentation spanned methodological development and clinical applications and emphasized findings showing that frequent symptom monitoring is well tolerated by bereaved individuals.
