Integration of Critical Assessment of Practices
Description
This report integrates the key findings of the critical assessments of youth deliberative and participatory practices at EU-level and at national and local levels. In the former case, these findings emerge from the assessment of 20 EU-level projects. In the latter, the practices analysed were taken from 25 educational and 50 organisational settings in five countries (Denmark, Finland, Italy, Portugal and the UK).
Drawing on the critical analysis of practices across national settings and sectors (community organisations, local authorities, educational settings) as well as different types of projects and programmes, in this report the criteria used to identify good practice are integrated. The integrated set of criteria retain their focus on inclusivity and intersectionality but are revised to ensure they facilitate assessment of the substance rather than description of practices. For example, the criteria are designed to identify practices that recognise and work to tackle inequalities arising from overlapping identities, not whether or not the practice discusses this through the language of intersectional inequality.
Applying these integrated criteria, a range of examples of good practice for each of the criteria and sub-criteria are identified. These examples are drawn from the practices studied and are presented together with publicly available source references where more information can be found. Examples of good practice to include in the report have been selected with the aim of including as wide a range as possible in terms of the sector, level (EU, national, local), type of project or organisation, and national context
