Appreciative Inquiry: A Key to Inclusive Education
Description
Inclusive education asserts that all students, regardless of their background or support needs, deserve a full and equal place in mainstream education (Ainscow, 2020). This requires a fundamental reconsideration of educational practices and attitudes. One effective method to facilitate this shift is Appreciative Inquiry (AI), an approach that focuses on strengths and possibilities within a system rather than on problems and limitations (Cooperrider & Whitney, 2005).
The activity presented here is designed to encourage students and professionals to critically reflect on their views about inclusive education. Through dialogue and reflection, participants are challenged to think constructively about the principles of inclusion and the role of education in achieving it.
