MAPPinfo Evaluation Toolkit

The MAPPinfo Evaluation Toolkit is an Excel-based tool designed to support the evaluation of health information quality using the MAPPinfo Checklist.

The MAPPinfo Checklist (Mapping the Quality of Health Information) is a validated instrument for assessing the quality of health information. Its criteria are based on the recommendations of the Guideline Evidence-based Health Information and it is the first tool to systematically operationalise these recommendations.

This Zenodo entry includes:

• the MAPPinfo Evaluation Toolkit (Microsoft Excel 2016 template; no macros required)

• the corresponding Manual for using the Toolkit (PDF)

Originally developed in German, the Toolkit and Manual are currently available in English, German, and Norwegian.

The Toolkit enables the evaluation of up to 150 health information materials by up to three independent raters.
It supports a systematic assessment process through plausibility checks, support in reviewing discrepancies, and automatic documentation of the entire assessment process.
The Toolkit also performs automated, standardised analyses of information quality and generates a standardised graphical summary of the results.

To date, the Toolkit has been used to assess and analyse more than 2,000 health information materials and has been extensively tested.
