Aerodynamics of bobsleighs: wind tunnel and CFD results
Description
Aerodynamic performance has a significant impact on bobsleighs. Using a full-scale wind tunnel, the drag and lift forces for monobob are measured. Based on the data obtained from these experiments, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model is developed to accurately simulate the aerodynamic behaviour of the bobsleighs. The CFD model is then used to investigate the aerodynamic performance of the bobsleigh. A trajectory study of a monobob on the La Plagne track is also carried out. By studying these two elements, the research aims to identify optimal configurations to improve sports performance.
