Description
The ASAP Collaborative Research Network (CRN) launched in 2020 to galvanize the global research community
on Parkinson’s disease (PD). This program embeds open science principles to accelerate discoveries and improve
outcomes, foster collaboration, generate resources, and share data assets for informing the path to a cure within a
global research network.
OUR APPROACH
• Encourage diverse perspectives and open discourse to support high-risk, ambitious projects, reshaping how
science in the Parkinson’s field is conducted.
• Reinvigorate the research pipeline to identify new targets and pathways for translational studies and
commercialization.
FOCUS AREAS
From 2020 to 2024, the CRN supported 35 multidisciplinary, international teams across 14 countries, addressing
three priority research areas:
1. PD Functional Genomics
2. Neuro-Immune Interactions
3. Circuitry and Brain-Body Interactions
As we enter our fifth year of the CRN, we want to evaluate our success in the following overarching principles of
the initiative.
