Investigating the Relationship between Training Programs and Employee Satisfaction

This conceptual research explores the link between training courses and the employee satisfaction in organizations. The root cause of the problem is that training has emerged as a major factor which is used to promote the performance and satisfaction of the employees. Although the importance of training programs has been partially researched, the extent of its effect on the employee satisfaction is unknown in Nigeria. The general research aim of this study is to assess effects of training programs regularity in terms of leadership style, communication patterns, organizational values and beliefs, work environment and recognition and rewards on employee satisfaction. The research questions revolve around insights on how these dimensions affect satisfaction levels in organizations in Nigeria. This research is conducted at a secondary level of analysis and data contained in this study are collected qualitatively from published literature like journals, books, articles and other available material. These are, indeed, an optimal leadership style, communication, cultural affinity, a constructive organizational culture, and acknowledgement, which explain employee satisfaction. To improving satisfaction, the study suggests the adoption of five practices that includes; transformational leadership, transparency, organizational values/expectations, and recognition. The study, therefore, finds that improvement on these factors will enhance the morale and performance of employees. Nevertheless, some of the challenges which are associated with the study include the use of secondary data and the study is confined to Nigerian organizations only which might not be a true representation of organizations across the world zone.
