Description

30. Indian Gerbil, Tatera indica (Hardwicke, 1807)

(IUCN Red List: LC)

Subspecies: T. i. taeniurus (Wagner, 1843).

Distribution: Common with a wide distribution along the Euphrates Valley and across Mesopotamia. (Fig. 36)

Previous records: Sheikh Hassan and Al-Ghazili (Misonne 1957), Qal’at er-Rahba (Kock & Nader 1983), Tell Al-Buderi, Tell Sheikh Hamad, es- Salihiyyeh, Qal’at er-Rahba, Halebiyye, Katir Magara, and el- Ukersheh (Kock 1998), Kasret Muhammed Ali and el-Ukershe (Shehab et al. 2004), Al-Hasakah area (Daoud & Khalil 2009c), Al-Safeh, Mabroukah, Beer Al-Hashem, Halabiyyeh, Qal’at er-Rahba, Ain Jum’aa, and es- Salihiyyeh (Shehab et al. 2011).
