La pieza titulada Bautista, surge como una expresión única de la rica diversidad del folclore venezolano caracterizado por su amalgama de influencias y sincretismo. Esta creación original teatraliza la tradición de San Juan Bautista en las costas venezolanas, a la vez que fusiona las vibrantes danzas afrocaribeñas con la expresividad contemporánea. Bautista se convierte en un puente entre lo ancestral y lo moderno, entre lo puro y lo estético, llevando al escenario la riqueza del folclore venezolano en otro tiempo y espacio. Con el objetivo de ofrecer una obra performativa que enaltezca la tradición de San Juan Bautista fusionada con la danza contemporánea, la pieza se propone capturar la esencia de una tradición folclórica arraigada en más de tres siglos de historia. Por esta razón, se toma como inspiración y base de la creación la simbología y la ritualidad intrínsecas a esta manifestación cultural.
Abstract
The piece entitled Bautista emerges as a unique expression of the rich diversity of Venezuelan folklore, characterized by its amalgam of influences and syncretism. This original creation theatricalizes the tradition of San Juan Bautista on the Venezuelan coasts, while fusing vibrant Afro-Caribbean dances with contemporary expressiveness. Bautista becomes a bridge between the ancestral and the modern, between the pure and the aesthetic, bringing to the stage the richness of Venezuelan folklore in another time and space. With the objective of offering a performative work that exalts the tradition of San Juan Bautista fused with contemporary dance, the piece aims to capture the essence of a folkloric tradition rooted in more than three centuries of history. For this reason, it takes as inspiration and basis of creation the symbolism and rituality intrinsic to this cultural manifestation. In short, Bautista seeks not only to unite the past and the present through dance, but also to give visibility to Venezuelan folklore in a different context, offering an aesthetic and performative experience that highlights the transcendence of the tradition of San Juan Bautista.
