Scientific article: Process electrification by magnetic heating of catalyst

Description

NIC’s latest publication ¨Process electrification by magnetic heating of catalyst¨ in the Chemical Engineering Journal reviews a transformative step in the electrification of chemical processes, aligning with the goals of the e-CODUCT project.

Key highlights of the research are:
• Development of magnetic particles that enable precise heat delivery in the reaction zone through magnetic heating in AC fields.
• Demonstrated the benefits of direct heating in fluidised bed systems, enabling efficient, localised energy transfer while keeping the reactor walls cold(er).
• Investigated how this electrification method leverages intermittent renewable energy and enables flexible and decentralised chemical production systems.
