Exploring BIM Capabilities for Life Cycle Assessment in Structural Projects: Towards Sustainable Material Choices
Description
This document corresponds to the original undergraduate dissertation submitted by Òscar Selfa to the Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) on 7 January 2025, as part of the BSc (Hons) in BIM (Digital Construction).
The study investigates the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to support sustainable material selection in structural design. A case study of a traditional barraca valenciana is used to test three design scenarios with different structural materials.
A technical summary is featured by Dlubal Software, including the RFEM files used in the analysis. Exploring BIM Capabilities for Life Cycle Assessment in Structural Projects: Towards Sustainable Material Choices
