Description

This Year 2 Periodic Report from the iRead4Skills project - a Horizon Europe-funded Research & Innovation Action - provides an overview of the project's progress between March 2024 and February 2025. iRead4Skills focuses on improving reading skills for low-literacy adults, particularly within Adult Learning (AL) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs, through advanced text complexity analysis, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and machine learning-driven educational tools.

The report presents key achievements across different work packages, including completing annotated corpora in Portuguese, Spanish, and French, developing the Intelligent Complexity Analyzer (ICA) API, and co-creating user-centered tools for assessing and improving readability. It also outlines the project's engagement with educators, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure practical adoption and long-term sustainability.

Looking ahead, iRead4Skills will continue expanding its platform, contributing to scientific research, and refining AI-based tools to support lifelong learning, literacy accessibility, and digital education.
