Not All Who Wander Are Lost - Democratizing Data Support and Governance in 21st Century
Description
Legacies of illegality surrounds the utilization of data, information and how they are passed across for use in organizations, society and institutions. Data and information hiding through a concept that synchronizes with data abstraction and encapsulation is taken to a different parlance where process owners behave as if the exclusivity of access and knowledge about that gives them a power boost even at the detriment of organizational and societal growth. They make users wander and grope in an abyss of data loss even when they are in a familiar environment. This presentation addresses issues relating to democratizing data support and governance strategy. The intention is to bring us to speed and come to terms with the need to be democratic about data and information usage and dissemination while observing and aligning with hierarchical access rights. The aims are to encourage listeners to make data and information readily accessible and understandable to a wider range of users within an organization, while still maintaining robust data governance practices to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance, essentially allowing everyone to utilize data effectively without requiring extensive technical expertise that make users wander even though they are not lost.
