********************************************************* ******************* HeFDI Data OER: ********************* *** Research data management - an online introduction *** ********************* README-File *********************** ********************************************************* Status: February 2025 HeFDI Data OER: Research data management - an online introduction Published by HeFDI - Hessian Research Data Infrastructures Authors in alphabetical order: Arnela Balic (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences), Muriel Imhof (Philipps-Universität Marburg), Sabrina Jordan (Universität Kassel), Esther Krähwinkel (Philipps-Universität Marburg), Andre Pietsch (Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen), Robert Werth (Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences) Licensing: This module is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) General information: Two import files for a learning module on research data management are provided here for reuse. The import files are available for Moodle (version 4.1) and ILIAS (version 8.18). Compatibility with other versions may need to be checked. Contents: Introduction to RDM; the life cycle of research data; data management plans; metadata and metadata standards; FAIR principles and CARE principles; data quality; data organization; data storage and archiving; legal aspects of research data management. Implementation in Moodle: 1. Download the Moodle backup file with the file extension .mbz. 2. Have your Moodle administrator create a new course for you. 3. In the top panel of the course, select "More" and click on "Reuse course". 4. Change the setting on the button on the upper left from "Import" to "Restore". 5. Drag and drop the file in the respective box and click on "Restore". You need about 245 MB of space for this. If it doesn't work, ask you Moodle administrator to import the course manually. 6. Remove the local references to Frankfurt UAS in the course and add references to the services of your university if necessary. 7. As the internal links to other chapters of the module may not have transferred correctly, check them (e.g. in chapter 1.5) and remove the links if necessary. Implementation in ILIAS: 1. Download the ILIAS import file with the extension .zip. 2. Have your ILIAS administrator create an ILIAS course for you. 3. Click on import. 4. Check your file size, you need about 405 MB. If you do not have this space available, either ask the ILIAS administration to expand it or ask them to import the course. 5. Remove the local references to Philipps-Universität Marburg in the text and in the info boxes and replace them with information from your own university. Usage: We would like to encourage you to reuse, modify and expand the learning module in all possible ways and adapt it to local conditions. In addition, we see it not only as an offer to be completed individually (aka. self-learning unit), but also in particular for the use in (curricular) teaching. Individual chapters or even the entire learning module can, for example, be worked through in an inverted classroom scenario before a course in order to then go into detail during class time. It is also possible to use the contents as a basis for more in-depth workshops (for example on subject-specific matters or for the actual creation of data management plans). For information on contact persons and current versions of the learning module, please contact hefdi@uni-marburg.de.
