Electronic Module Management System Software
Creators
Description
Radio frequency identification (RFID) tags embedded in plastic covers used on cylindrical or "round" cotton modules allow for the
unique identification of the cotton in each module. The RFID system enables the collection of module specific harvest and ginning
data that can be used by growers and ginners to improve the profitability of cotton through enhanced production and processing
techniques. This source code is the software for a set of tools that together make up the Electronic Module Management (EMM)
system. The tools in the EMM system include: 1) "RFID Gin Data Management" - a data management utility that compiles all of the
data collected by the tools in the EMM system and allows for data export to other programs and report generation, 2) "HID Download
Utility" - a tool that automates the process of retrieving module specific harvest related data from the John Deere Operations Center,
3) "RFID Module Scan" - a mobile application for use on tablets and cell phones that allows module RFID tags to be scanned using
a hand held RFID reader after harvesting and field staging and transmits the data to a gin to help with transportation logistics, 4)
"EMM Loader Scan" - a system for use on wheel loaders and telehandlers that collects module specific information when modules
are loaded or unloaded from semi-trailers, 5) "EMM Truck Scan" - a mobile utility that scans module RFID tags when they are loaded
and unloaded from conventional chain-bed type module trucks, 6) "EMM Scale Bridge" - a stationary truck scale bridge utility that
scans module RFID tags and associates them to truck load information when transport vehicles arrive at a gin, 7) "EMM Feeder
Bridge" - a stationary bridge utility that scans module RFID tags to create a processing log and displays module specific data to
workers when the modules are placed on the module feeder for processing, and 8) “PBI Logger” - a tool that scans permanent bale
identification (PBI) tags on lint bales as they are packaged and associates bale weight with each PBI tag for use in “mapping” lint
bales to the round modules from which they were ginned. All of the RFID tag scan data are associated with date/time and GPS
information to provide asset tracking and processing status information to producers.
