Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset/supportive materials, originally published as supplementary material for the associated article, contains comprehensive data to support the study. The study was conducted with to achieve the following objectives:
- Identify available tools and guidelines for assessing medication appropriateness and aiding in the deprescribing of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs).
- Evaluate the development and validation methods employed for explicit and mixed tools and guidelines.
- Develop a comprehensive thematic list of medications extracted from identified explicit and mixed tools and guidelines, categorized based on the target populations and rationale for evaluating medication use.
- Describe the available level of evidence supporting the medications or medication classes included in the identified tools and guidelines.
It is structured as follows:
SuppInfo_search strategy: Detailed search strategies for each database, offering transparency and replicability for the study's literature search process.
SuppInfo_Metadata: A detailed methodology for compiling lists of medications tailored to specific target populations. It includes a thematic classification of medication appropriateness to facilitate the interpretation of SuppInfo_compiled medication list for different target populations.
SuppInfo_Reasons for the exclusion: A comprehensive list of publications excluded from the final synthesis, accompanied by clear reasons for their exclusion.
SuppInfo_risk of bias assessment: Evaluations of critical appraisals for included studies. Systematic reviews were assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist, while guidelines were evaluated with the AGREE II checklist.
SuppInfo_compiled medication list for different target populations: A thematically classified list of medications, organized based on their appropriateness for different target groups.
